Well, here's the deal. My wife really likes the way my '67 convertible
looks, it even makes her smile (not bad considering she has a pretty
good guess on what I've spent). She does not like the amount of noise
it makes and that the radio/CD player sound disappears in a cacophony of
car sounds and resonance while cruising. Yesterday, on our way to Costco
for cheap 92 octane fuel and her first ride in the car, a little blast
in first gear resulted in the local Gendarme tracking me down to provide
a following escort till we turned off into the parking lot. I have now
committed to quieting things down.

The car is a fresh ground up restoration. It was media blasted on a
rotisserie, etch primed, seam sealer applied, painted, then
reassembled. It has firewall, door, and floor insulation, and all known
body plugs. Since the underside of the car has that beautiful red lead
colored paint I haven't applied any undercoating.

The engine is a healthy 351W w/Trick Flow heads, roller cam, and JBA
ceramic coated shorty headers. Exhaust is 2 1/2" pipes, 2 1/2"
crossover, three chamber Flowmaster mufflers, and 3" oval exhaust tips.
Transmission is toploader followed by a 9" rear end.

Any suggestions on where to start, where to look, or what to change? If
anybody local wants to look and provide any of the above your welcome.

Thanks,

Russ-

Start by losing the Flowmasters. Go with the Dynomax turbo or similar
muffler. Some folks like that particular droning sound that Flowmasters give
you on small-block Fords, others don't. I had a set on my 5.0 GT, hated them
- traded them to a buddy, he put them on his 428 powered '67, they sound
great.
