Hey guys, just a quick note. Kind of funny. It has no
"car" relevance so just delete if your time is short.

This is definitely a scam. Some people choose to
ignore these things. Others, namely "me", like to toy
with these jerks. I got an email similar to this
earlier this year and I responded to it.

Over the course of 2-3 weeks, I convinced them that not
only was I interested, but that I was gullible and an
easy pick. I made up a fake name, a fake account at a
fake bank, complete with account number and routing
number. I did everything they asked of me (with fake
info) and then the pulled the stunt that they needed
$1000 to initiate the transfer of the first $100,000.

I then sent them an email indicating that I had routed
them the $1000 to their bank. They immediately sent me
a message that they had not recieved the money.

I told them that the problem lay with my bank and that
my bank would not allow me to wire them any less than
$10000. I asked them to send me a cashiers check for
$9000 for the difference.

They told me that their country's mail system would not
allow them to send me a cashiers check and to just send
the $10K and they would see that I "was reimbursed" at
a later date. I said OK. (They must have been
salivating by now, it had been about 4weeks at this
point).

Of course, a day passed and they indicated that they
had not recieved the $. I told them that I would
investigate. I then sent an email that my bank had
advised me that this might be some kind of scam.

They replied that they had the "best of intentions".

At this point I was getting bored of the whole thing
and sent a message asking for identification.

My request included, Full Name, Address, Country of
Origin, pictures of their mothers, their shoe size,
Age, Height, Weight, Whether they were in need of
dental care, 1 jar of sand, preference for sandals or
shoes, and whether they had all ten digits.

I got a reply that indicated they were puzzled about
some of my requests. I replied with an even more
bizarre list of requirements. I haven't heard from
them since.

The way I look at it, while they were trying to scam
me, they were not scamming someone else. I guess it is
a teeny tiny small victory for us.

:-)

Here's my 2 cents:

The sender of this email is perpetrating a fraud. There are real criminal
penalities for just sending this email. Don't screw with them; report them!

The way I see it, most of us are rather fortunate, but work pretty hard for
what we have just the same. My Mustang/Shelby habit is a far mor worthy
cause than these clowns.

John
