Until I bought it, my car spent its entire life in the heat of Arizona. Although the original vinyl upholstry is still in good physical condition, it has faded somewhat and lost its new vinyl look. Im considering what can be done about recovering its condition..if anything.

I recall some discussion on the list a year or two ago in which a particular product was particularly strongly recommended for restoring and conditioning vinyl. I didnt keep those posts, and can't find them in the archives. (I do however well recall the warnings never to use Armour-all !)

For those with experience in this area, was the product Lexol Vinylex? Are there any other brands that come well recommended?

Anyone had experience with Megiar's "Natural Shine Protectant?

Thanks

I don't recall that exchange, but Vinylex is fairly widely praised. I've used it and have been happy with it. It's obviously not magic but good stuff.

I've come across another treatment that I really like: 303 Aerospace Protectant. Wierd name but good stuff, kinda expensive, though. It's hard to find but I've found it locally at West Marine. Other boating stores may carry it as well. You can use it on just about any rubber/plastic/vinyl/fiberglass product and it mainly offers UV protection. The thing I like is it leaves almost no gloss or oily feeling. It's great for some dash materials on newer cars that have a matte look. The manufacturer web page is...

303products.com/main.php?infopage=protectant

Hope that helps,
Matt

Yes. It is the best vinyl treatment I have ever used. It doesn't
leave that greasy Armorall, dust gathering slime at all. It's also
a nice tire dressing.

Wal,
I've been using Vinylex and 303 Protectant for about 4 years but for
different purposes. My previous toy had white interior & white convertible
top--what a bear to keep looking new! 303 has just a bit more sheen than
Vinylex and works great on tires & the top. I've been very happy with
Vinylex on the interior rubber & vinyl. I use Meguires cleaning products on
these surfaces but haven't tried their Natural Shine Protectant.
