I have a fuel gauge problem - the gauge reads about 3/4 full when the tank
is full. When I start the car, the gauge will "peg" at full, then creep
back to 3/4. I've seen other related items in this list but they all cover
the problem of the gauge remaining pegged at full. The tank and sender
unit are new and exhibit the same problem as those they replaced. After
reading another item in this list, I grounded the lead to the sender unit
to test the gauge and it remained pegged, so I assume the gauge is alright.
Is this a wiring problem? i.e. old wiring that for some reason has too
much resistence, or has a bad ground somewhere? Perhaps a related problem
- my right directional blinks slower than the left. Any suggestions on how
to isolate the problem? Also, is there a separate wiring harness for the
rear of the can that can/should be replaced. Any suggestions are
appreciated. Thanks.

My car has the same problem that you have described, but also my oil
pressure and water temperature guages also read low. I have checked all
wiring, but the guages seem to operate normally, just read low. I
recently replaced the voltage regulator and all sending units with new
Motorcraft replacements (the guages did not work prior to this). Does
anyone know if there is any adjustment that can be made to the regulator
or guages to correct this? Are the 'service replacement' regulators set
for the same voltage as the originals?
