If the 289 is stock, running stock exhaust manifolds, it may be a little too
much carb for the engine. There may be a little "bogginess" under certain
conditions.

If you can take it with a grain of salt, there is some info regarding this
on Pony Carburetors' website ponycarburetors.com (they do, after
all want you to buy their product).
