first, when using an easyout I've had some luck drilling the frozen bolt
out almost to the thread, also plenty of lube around the threads if possible,
tap the frozen bolt.
one final thing, if the bolt (before breaking off) seems like it is turning
hard. it helps
to try to tighten a little, you just want to get it started. when using a tap
i keep a can
of WD-40 near and spray frequently as you tap even in undamaged holes. If the
tap stops or binds stop and back it out clean it and start again. this is my
experience after breaking easyouts and taps more often than I'd like to admit.
It seems that all makers of fiberglass hoods recommend prop rods. The
manufacturing techniques don't include proper framing that will allow the
hood not warp when held by the springs.
