Had anyone ever heard of a "Fred Jones" rebuild?

I was going through the glove box of my new 66 Mustang and found that in
1992 it got a "Fred Jones" rebuilt engine. In searching the internet,
I've found several articles on the internet talking about putting a
"Fred Jones" rebuilt engine in their Mustang.

Since the articles are specifically referring to it that way, and the
paperwork from Nostalgic Auto specifically calls it a "Fred Jones"
rebuild, I can't help but wonder what that means.

But I can't find ANYTHING that tells me what that means.. Or who "Fred
Jones" is..

Thanks,

Lance

Fred Jones Manufacturing
900 West Main Street
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

This company started as a Ford Assembly Plant back in the 1920's. =
Model A's and Model T's were built there. When the manufacturing =
processes began to require more room than the 4 story brick building =
could contain, the plant was converted into a remanufacturing facility, =
doing contract work for Ford Motor Company and at one point had about =
1200 employees working there.
Products included everything from engines and transmissions right =
down to window lift motors and power steering components. If it was =
rebuildable, it came through that plant at one time or another. There =
were other manufacturing facilities owned by the company that produced =
electronics parts and other component parts as well. Other customers =
besides Ford included U-haul, UPS, and even General Motors. (We showed =
GM how to line hone cadillac blocks with a drill press, imagine that)
Alas, around 1995 the company began having trouble renewing their =
contracts with Ford after so many years of dedicated service. It seems =
that another company was getting all of the bids (anyone ever heard of =
Visteon, a Ford subsidiary?) The politics of business being what they =
are, Fred Jones decided to concentrate all of their efforts in the =
transmission and transaxle arena and are now doing business as Autocraft =
and are doing quite well in a partnership with ATC (Aftermarket =
Technologies Corp.)
