Been working diligently as time permits on my '69 BOSS 302. I ended up
buying American Design Torque boxes, floorpans and upper floor to firewall
units from Paddock. I have the driver side done, just needing finish
grinding and cleanup.
As a whole, I was pretty happy with the floorpans and torque boxes (Wish
the torque box on the driver side came with the parking brake holes
though. The plasma cutter and an oval template came in very handy for
putting those in it.)
However, the upper floor to firewall pieces did not seem to fit for me, and
I ended up plasma cutting them up into pieces to weld in, and did a lot of
torch heating and hammering to fit them.. They're very solid... and
thankfully will be sandwiched between the torque box and my noise
underlayment and carpeting, as that section is not entirely pretty like I
had hoped for. I could have, and probably should have made my own from
sheet metal at a much lesser cost rather than cutting that up.
I suspect it's because they aren't really for a '69..
Their catalog lists the same part number for '64 1/2 to 68. I also
specified to be sure, that it was for a '69. The sticker on them says
'64 to '68, but the part number listed on it is exactly what I ordered from
the catalog, which states 69. I even called to check after discovering
the bad fit, and was told that was the right part.
Anyhow, I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else has had such an
experience and if you've got a picture of how yours turned out I'd love to
see it.
