I'm going to install "factory" A/C in my 67, 289. I have the standard 4
blade fan on the engine now. Which is the proper fan for factory air on a
67, 289 - a 5 or 6 blade fan? Also, some of the fans are 15" instead of
17". Which is the proper diameter? Finally, do I need a fan clutch?
Thanks for any help.

Steve -
I can't speak for your specific case or for concours correctness, just from
personal experience living in the 120 degree heat of the Valley of the Sun. My
recommendation: 4 core radiator, 6 bladed fan, fan shroud, separate cooler for
automatic tranny fluid. I did not buy clutched fan, but that was a financial
decision. My 289, as I perceive most 289's, runs hot, especially here in
Phoenix. Putting a/c on will only make them run hotter unless you maximize your
cooling system.
You may be able to back off on some of this cooling if you have cooler
conditions you drive your car in, ie: up north of the Mason-Dixon line, and
highway miles (my setup still allows engine coolant temperature to get to 240
degrees when its 115 outside and in stop and go rush-hour traffic).
Consult other a/c owners in your neck of the woods - they will have a better
feel for local conditions and what's required. Good luck.

w/clutch#C60E-G
17 1/2" dia with 7 blades.
apparantly they installed some non clutch units for some reason but I
would suggest the unit above. It is the same as used on all 67 GT350's,
66-67 Fairlanes and a couple of applications.
