Hi guys,

Well, I have a couple of questions now that I am going home to Texas (I go
to Northwestern),

During the summer, I put in a Duraspark system in my 1968 289. I got the
distributor form the junkyard from a 1977 Lincoln, but the control unit
had been already stripped. When I went to buy it at the local parts
store, They had several of the unis showing for the 302 engine, sorted
according to color of the clip on the thing. Is any unit correct for the
289, or do different units correspond to different dwell angles?

And, is there something on the Granda disc brake swap in the FAQ? If so,
how do I go bout getting it?

Thanks,
ernesto

According to information I have, there are two different Duraspark systems.
The Duraspark I system is distinguished by having a coil with a blue top.
There is an interlock built into the coil primary connector to keep from
interchanging the coil types. the Duraspark I has higher output and was used
in 1977 California V8 Mercurys and Lincolns, also 1978 & 1979 California
Fords, Mercurys, and Lincolns with 302 engine.

I also believe that the systems can be told apart by the color of the plastic
block in the ignition module, but I don't have that information handy.

Hope this helps.
