Hey Gang.

Getting ready to install new door hinges or at least install
a rebuild kit in my old ones. Car is a '70 Mustang.

I read the Mustang Monthly How-to's. It looks accomplishable.

To save myself some time and headaches is there any "helpful"
hints from those of you who have been down this road.

New hinges or just get the 'kit'?
Any suggested parts vendor? I tend to like CJ's (cool shirts too).

Thanks in advance.

I rebuilt my hinges in my '65 a year ago and still have nightmares of
refitting the door. Make sure you have a friend or two with you when you
do it. If I could do it all over again (and I will) I wold take the time
to remove the front fender. Although this is much easier for me since I
already have for paint prep). I would also go with new lower hinges, I
just didn't like the way the rebuild came out. I am trying to remember
where I got mine, I think that I got the rebuild kit from the padock or
dallas mustang. Good quality I just think new ones are a better Idea
(depending on budget).

Good luck

If the ratchet mechanism is still OK, just
go for the bushing and pin kit.

If the ratchet mechanism is broke, I'd just
get a new hinge (I replaced the ratchet
spring and cam on one of my hinges and in
retrospect I would have just bought a new
hinge).

I can't remember where I saw it, but the comment that sticks in my
mind is:

"Only replace one hinge at a time. Trying to align both hinges at
once is a real bitch..."

Those are my words of wisdom for today...
