The best way to debug reverse lights is to:

1) put car on flat pavement.
2) place blocks under tires to keep car from rolling.
3) put the ignition switch to the accessory setting. (car is not running!!!!!)
and set the emergency brake as another measure of safety.
4) put the car in reverse.
5) get those damm lights to light.

This is how I did mine. It turned out that the contacts at the lights
themselves were a little dirty and rotating the bulb
a little fixed the problem.

regards,
Brian
