I went under my 1973 Mustang (351C-2V) to drain the oil pan. I always knew that
the oil pan was dented, but this is the first time I really got to inspect it
this well. What a mess!!!
The oil pans center is dented real bad, almost as if someone tried to lift the
car with a big jack positioned under the pan. In fact, maybe that's just what
happened! What's worse, the crossmember under the rear of the pan is also badly
crushed as well as the FMX tranny oil pan. I don't know what could have caused
this but it looks pretty nasty.
I know I can just remove the pans and bang them back into shape, but what can I
do about the crossmember. The lower section is crushed up into the upper
section. The upper looks somewhat straight though. Can this be replaced without
welding?
Thanks all in advance!!!! May God bless you all!
