So my 8" rear end has a bad bearing that whines at speed and rather than rebuild it and the drums brakes that are on it, I am going to start building a 9" rear end. If anyone has an interchange manual with them, what year cars can I yank a housing from to be compatible. I know that a '65-'66 rear will work with a shorter track (good for wider tires) but I am just interested in the '67-'70 compatability. Also, if anyone knows the measurement from plate to plate, that would be great as well. Also, would anyone know if there are better casings to look out for. What vehicles can I hope to get a "N" carrier from. And last but not least, am I correct in assuming that I will have to shorten the drive shaft? Thanks in advance.
