I decided to break down and fix my really worn out clutch and brake pivots
today. I've managed to get everything out except the bracket itself. I've
disconnect everything in sight, but I can't figure out how to get enough
room to get it out. Any advice. I've twisted, turned, pulled the dash out,
but it's still in. Also the clutch spring was already off. I can't imagine
getting this thing back in with the spring and peddle already mounted. I
guess if I figured out how to pull the steering column, it would come out,
but that seems a bit drastic.
If I do eventually get it out, has anyone added bearings to the bracket
instead of the really flimsy shafts and plastic sleeves?

Taking the steering column out is not that big of a deal. You remove =
the steering wheel and the column bracket that holds it to the dash =
(should have attached to the brake pedal bracket IIRC) and then the =
column slides up and out (on my '66 anyway).
