You may know from a prior post that I'm in the midst of swapping my '67
coupe from manual to power steering. I have a money saving tip should you
need to replace the control valve and slave cylinder (as I did...they were
rotted beyond use).

I found that a '78 Granada power valve and slave cylinder will work as a
direct swap for my '67 Mustang. There are two differences to be aware of
when doing this:

1) The two hoses that connect the power valve and the slave cylinder have
updated, improved seats. Ford got a better idea when building the '78 units
and used a different type of seat which is not prone to leaks like the older
models are. When getting new hoses (you *are* getting new hoses aren't
you?) just remember to ask for the Granada units ($10 each at local store).

2) One of the hoses coming from the power steering pump (can't recall which
right now) uses a larger sized connection at the control valve. Again, ask
for a Granada replacement hose and you'll be fine.

I got a complete used Granada power steering assembly (Ccontrol valve, slave
cylinder and it's mounting bracket, pump, etc..) for $25 from a local
boneyard. Spent a few bucks for rebulilt kits and I'm ready to go for a lot
less than the typical vendor prices....and I shouldn't have any pesty leaks
either due to the *new* style seats!

Cheers,
Brian B
