Hey everyone. I am stripping my car (67 Fastback) and
getting it ready to paint. Hood is off and turn signal
indicators out. I am doing the small trim pieces a
different color than the rest of the car. I do have a
couple of silly questions. I have an aluminum rocker
panel under the door from the front fender to the
rear. Can I put on the fender trim with this rocker
pannel in place? I'm not sure how large they are.
Also, how do you get the MUSTANG letters off of the
trunk lid? The backs cannot be seen from the inseide
as some of the other trim parts. One last for now,
what type of filler/sealer do you use on the
dorr/window drip rails? Mine is cracking a bit.
Thanks. Car is going from a bad faded red/orange to
Big Band Blue (light blue) w/ dark blue trim. I am
also using Por 15 in the engine compartment and under
the car. The front is a mess from all the battery acid
that has leaked over the years. I sand blasted the
tray and some of the engine compartment and then used
an etch paint prep before doing this. I'm thinking of
using Por 15 on the whole engine compartment. I also
have to have a nut welded into the drivers side fender
area where the hood hinges go as the hood came up many
months ago on the highway....ripped the nut right out
of the body. I think new hinges are in order too.
Talk to every one soon.
