Can I adapt a Saginaw-type PS box?

When I bought my '70 Mach 1 the power steering had been removed, leaving me
with difficult, sloppy steering due to the high ratio box & toggle peg on
inoperative valve. I have a complete junkyard system that only needs to be
rebuilt & installed. Now the problem: I don't like the power-assist system
and really don't want to use it. Neither do I want to make the obvious mods
necessary to fit a R&P system to the car. What I want is to be able to
adapt a Saginaw-type power steering box from a later model to my car. I
have never heard of anyone doing this to an old Mustang (popular for street
rods, though).
Any suggestions?
BTW I'm running headers and imagine that would make a difference.

That new rack and pinion system from total control I think. Looks good, no
cutting no changing, can go back to stock if you wont. I would have gone for
it on my coupe if it was a little cheaper. Even with me needing everything,
it was still about $500.00 to costly.
