Hi all. I haven't chimed in for awhile, but I'll make up for it now.
A few months ago I purchased from an acquaintance a new & unused
Ford Motorsports SVO (or whatever they're called now) camshaft,
#M-6250-A311. It's advertised as having a duration of 280*/290*, with
204*/214* @ 0.50" of lift. The total valve lift is 0.448"I, and
0.472"E.
My car is a '65 GT with an "A" code 289 and an auto trans. The
drive line is all stock except for a Pertronix ignition (hey, it does
work great) and the "Hi-Po" exhaust manifolds.
My question is, has anyone used this or a similar camshaft? I
bought this one without giving it much thought, but I've been doing a
whole lot of second guessing before I go through the trouble of putting
it in. I'm concerned whether the idle quality or low-end torque will
suffer. I've contacted numerous cam manufactures for recommendations,
with results ranging from this one being too mild, to just right, to way
too radical. I'm going nuts trying to figure this out. I don't want to
regret putting this cam in.
Also, if someone out there has successfully used this cam, may I ask
what valve springs you used? I'm fairly certain that new springs would
be a must with this cam, so I need to select those as well.
Thanks in advance to anyone with any input.
Jon
