I think I responded to this question before: I think you need to be a
little clearer about your intentions.
Are you looking for originality (attempting to replicate the factory
disc-brake option for your car as built) or do you just want better brakes?
What are your reasons for wanting to keep the original spindles? The
'70+ Mustang/Falcon/Fairlane/Maverick/etc. drum spindles are fairly
common and not too hard to come by if you're doing a high-end kit e.g.
Baer, while the best factory daily-driver setup is the complete wheel
set including spindles from the '75-79 Granada/Monarch.
What size wheels do you intend to run? About the only combination I'm
aware of that'll clear a 14in wheel would be the later somewhat
troublesome single-piston Mustang/Fairlane/Falcon/Montego/etc. setup and
the improved sliding-piston Granada setup that replaced it (and you
still need a wheel with the right back-side rim profile to clear the
caliper), a few will fit in 15in wheels, the more aggressive ones will
require at least 16in and a few 17in wheels.
Which 'four piston aftermarket calipers' are you talking about, and with
whose kit?
What are you going to use for a master cylinder and proportioning valve
- do you want a kit that includes the right bits for this, or do you
have something else in mind?
To my knowledge there's only a couple options that'll let you keep the
original spindles. IMO the best is probably the Baer
(baer.com) kit with 2-piston PBR pad-guided calipers (a very
common design, originally used on the C4 Corvettes, later on the Fox and
SN95 Mustang Cobras) but I believe even the 12in rotor kit requires 16in
wheels. They will, I think, suggest you update to the later spindles,
though.
Mustang Steve (mustangsteve.com) has a nice booster and
bracket setup that fits on the early cars and allows use of a few
different master cylinders.

No doubt a few were built with discs, most will have drums, I think the
6cyl cars of that vintage still had 9in drums and the V8s had 10in drums.
