On my quest to convert my c4 equipped 66 Mustang to a T5, I replaced the
bushings in my 66 Mustang clutch and brake pedal support with ball
bearings over the weekend.
Parts List
2 ball bearings ? model number 499502H (5/8? ID x 1.375? H)
2 steel collars 1.375? ID x 5/16? W
2 5/8? ID x 1/8? W washers for shims
1 5/8? ID washer
1 cotter pin
Ball bearings can be found at your local go kart place or on-line.
Cut steel collars 5/16? wide. I bought 12" of 1.375" ID mild steel and
used a power chop saw with a metal blade.
Remove old bushings from brake pedal support
Center collars and weld to outside of pedal support
Install bearings on pedal shaft
Shim with 1/8? washers
Add outside washer and cotter pin to hold everything together
If you don?t have access to the necessary tools, Mustang Steve can
supply you with the parts (see mustangsteve.com). While
there, check out the pic of a worn out pedal support. The one I
recently purchased was very similar.
I hope to get this on the wiki site complete with pictures.

Cool Rick! I've often wondered how much of a difference this makes. My
pedal supports were from an automatic (my car) and so there was no
bushing wear. It was too easy to stick in the little plastic bushing
and go.
Someday I'll probably take it out and put in something like this.
Thanks!
Keven

Keven,
My existing auto support is also in good shape (still in car). Even the
plastic bushings are good.
Since I got a clutch pedal/brake pedal/support together, I'd "practice"
on the worn one. If I messed up, I can use the good one.
Now I'm trying to fab a cable quadrant similar to the one on Mustang
Steve's site.

Really? That's what I did. I designed and made my own quadrant,
figured the ratios and everything. I've got some pictures too. Let me
know if you want them.
I ended up with something that uses the stock '87-'93 FMS cable ($45).
In fact, I have a late model mustang quadrant that I can sell you cheap
too if you like. That's what I'd do if I did it all again (and didn't
do hydraulic, which would be my first choice).
