Hi All,
Sorry for the off-topic post - but I have some questions on the 4X4
mechanicals on my 99 Expedition and would love to find a resource
such as this email list or a forum for the Expedition - anyone know
of any? I'm guessing an F150 would be almost the same so those would
be welcome as well.

Thanks,
Ben

(Or if anyone wants to take a guess at my problem: I have a 99
expedition which has 3 positions for the 4x4 system: Automatic, High
and Low. The 4x4 system itself is working (both High and Low work),
but the Automatic portion seems to have stopped working. From what I
could find so far - automatic runs in rear wheel drive normally. It
has a computer that monitors the front wheel anti-lock sensors
(located at each wheel) and rear wheel anti lock brake sensor (which
is actually in the transfer case in the 99s?) and will trigger a
clutch in the transfer case to switch to 4X4 mode when it sense a
difference in speed between the front and rear wheels. I'd like to
know how to test each of the components to see which is bad - the
haynes manual is pretty vague and covers several years in which the
design of the system seems to have changed. Thanks.)
