My brother has decided to build a Cobra Kit and tonight he picked up a 4.6 liter modular engine out of a 1994 Thunderbird. He's an electrical guru and an incredible tightwad, so he's all about building it with EFI and cheaply.

The motor came with the 4-speed automatic, which was the only tranny available on Thunderbirds that year. However, he doesn't want an automatic in the Cobra. So the question is, what manual transmissions will fit?

I know the Mustangs had the T-45, but I've read something about the 96-98 GT T-45s being different than the Cobra T-45s and aren't interchangeable. Anybody know if the 94 will require the 96-98 style or the Cobra style?

Anybody have other advice on Cobra drivetrains and rear-ends? Is there a forum for that?

Fordnatics would be a good bet. I'm not very knowledgeable on the late
model stuff, but there are some real helpful people on that list (or
there where years ago when I was active on it).
