If you seriously hop-up the L6, then you'll need to upgrade stuff anyway.
In any case, even with a stock L6, you really should put disk brakes on the car.
My plan is to build a turbocharged EFI 200 L6, but since I haven't done it yet
(my New Years Resolution was to finish all existing projects before any new ones).
And since nobody sells bolt-on kits to do it, it's not really a viable choice for you.
Cliffords has a supercharger kit, but it's quite pricey.
So the least-work least-cost solution is to do a solid stock rebuild on L6
and maybe turbocharge or supercharge down the road if money
or kits becomes available. That is my advice.
If you really want to go fast, then sell the car with the rebuilt L6,
and buy something else, like a 69-70 fastback with a 351..

Hi Kelly,
so you are also hanging around with the originality crowd. Besides DRAGNET,
I'm also in two not-only-quarter-miling lists. Well, I guess that nothing
beats a low 12 second 60s vintage car that looks like a bone stock
restoration ;-)
FORD's OHO book has receipe for a pretty stout 300 ci L6, but the cost
seems equivalent to the V8. I know that in Australia, they can really make
a MoPar slant 6 howl. OK, one could start with a 300 ci FORD L6 and
seriously work the head of that thing and add a turbo, but I'd rather put
the money and effort that is going to cost in a V8.
I'd say an alternative to a V8 is two V8s :->>
