Another quick question, I have a stock 69 302, should there be some sort of
hose off the bottom of the snorkel on the air cleaner assembly? Also what
is the point of the snorkel system on the 69?

The purpose of the snorkel system is to provide preheated
air off the exhaust manifold to aid in cold start up.
Once the air is heated the flapper in the snorkel closes (opens?)
to allow cooler under hood air into the air cleaner.

I think you are talking about the warm air intake.
If so, it has or had a metal cage thing around the exhaust and a hose that
sucked warm air off during cold starts.

Someone else may have better answers at to why but it had a vacuum valve
that allowed warm air in when cold and would progressively close as the
engine warmed up allowing cooler air in through the larger part of the
"snorkel". I think it is mostly a old school crude emissions thing. I also
heard that the carb (in REALLY cold weather) could ice up and this could
possibly be part of the system to help reduce it until the coolant got up to
temp. You probably have a carb adapter that routes heater coolant through it
for this.
