Hey there. I am looking to replace the original 14"x6" rims that are
are on my '66 coupe. I have one question/problem. I was looking under
my car and noticed that I have plenty of room in the front for a rim
probably up to 8" or 9" wide. I want to put a set of 17"x8" all the way
around, but the problem is in the rear. I was under my car and noticed
that the rear has very very minimal wisth to put some rims into. Yet, I
know that pepole put rims that are alot wider than just 6" all the
time. What are they doing to fit them? Has anyone solved this without
tubbing? If you have tubbed, do they make smaller ones that arent for
tires 36" in diameter. If anyone has any suggestions, please respond.
Thanks,
Daniel

Daniel,
If you're thinking about very wide rims on front, watch out for the tyres
hitting the lower front lip of the fender. I ran 9" tyres years ago and the
fouled the fender badly. Very low profile tyres may help, but try before
you buy.
