I think I have decided to buy one of these...the question is, how much
does it cost to ship? Has anyone ever shipped them? I mean if I get a
great deal on one in good shape, yet it costs a million dollars to ship...
Well, you get the idea.

thanks,
-stevan

Steve,

I sold an NOS concours quality SVO hood to a fellow in Texas, and
opened an account with a shipping company just so I could get it
from NY to Houston. Unfortunately, a horror story ensued, the hood
was damaged beyond repair, and both buyer and seller were unhappy.
Fortunately, the insurance I took out made both the buyer and seller
whole - after an aggravating 3 months.

I posted my experience to the list, and can foward it to you. Several
other people offered their experiences with some excellent suggestions.
Whatever you do, stay away from Roadway and UPS! BTW, my hood was packed
in 3-inch thick cocoon of bubble wrap, and still was bent in half like
paper. And yes, you might have to pay a whole lot of money and still
get aggravated beyond your imagination.

I might suggest meeting the seller at a swap meet or car show that
you're both going to. Driving half way to meet the guy, train freight,
or a crating company might help. This is why swap meets are such a
great idea. Good luck!
