Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who owns a 1969 Mustang Coupe. I
need lots of parts but can only find ones for Fastbacks that I can't use, or
Boss or Mach parts outrageously priced. I was wondering...does anyone have a
driver's side Window regulator or know where I can get one? My window rolls
down but feels stiff and you really have to crank it. That's the window
regulator right? -------Thanks,
Eric

Eric,

Before biting the bullet to buy a $70 regulator, check the
adjustment and the rollers. A roller may be busted and let the
regulator dog drag and bind. Hopefully, It may just need some minor
tweeking and some lube.

Yes, parts for 69+ are hard to find, and it's only slowly getting
better. I'm thinking of getting a '66 Fastback (as my second classic
Mustang), not only for the looks (*lovely* car), but also because of
the massive parts availability.

Ciao,
Klaus

I always found '69/'70 parts pretty easy to find. Its a popular year, so
there is a lot of competition for the really macho stuff (higher price), but
not that hard to find. I would think coupe parts would be especially easy
to find since they are often used as parts cars for fastbacks and
convertibles. Besides a window regulator (have one if you need it) what
parts are you having trouble finding? E-mail with me off the list with your
needs, condition desired and price range. I used to sell a lot of this
stuff, but cleaned out before I moved. Still have many good contacts.

Good Luck,
Mark Meswarb

James,

Please tell me about your 69 GT convertible.

I have one too, but I know that this combination is very very rare. I've only
heard of maybe 2 or 3 people who have them. (There are lots more I'm sure, its
just that you rarely come across them -It would be interesting to know how many
69 GT convertibles were ever made?).

Cheers,
Will

Its just a lot harder.

Eric,

Listen to Jim. I learned how to replace the plastic rollers in
my 66 by the time I was 11. It isn't too hard. I'd clean up
the track and add some fresh grease. If a roller is busted, these
are cheap (less than $2 ea). On the 66, they are light blue, about
a dime in diameter (sorry to our international friends) and held
in with a C-like spring clip.

Hi there,

We've spoken before. Mine is extraordinarily rare in that it is an M =
code as well as being coded to the body color of Silver Jade. This =
color was only available in 1969. I have made a few minor modifications =
(racing mirrors, rocker panel moldings, door edge guards, rocker panel =
stripes), but the rest of it is factory. When I got it, the paint job =
was horrible (fire burnt red) and it had loads of rust. I have replaced =
80% of the body panels, new front seat covers, and a dash pad cover to =
cover a large crack. I couldn't see spending $450 on a new dash pad. =
My car does not have AC, but AC is rarely needed in Colorado. A =
previous owner put some sort of shift kit in my cruise-o-matic automatic =
transmission. It responds similar to a Chevy. I am currently putting a =
new top on, redoing the rear leafs & springs to Shelby specs, and =
replacing the "home" carpet that a previous owner cutout to fit inside. =
Then I will be done and just enjoy it. If you want see a picture check =
this out mindspring.com/~jimsvendsen/mustang.html. These =
were taken last summer.
