After looking at the prices of dash pads for my '70 Mach1
of roughly $400 to have mine restored, $460 for another one mail order,
and $500 for a local mustang house,
I invested some serious effort to see if I could restore my old one
myself. I was bolstered by my successful efforts to redo my
molded door panels, but the dash pad appears an impossible
job without I would guess is some type of special equipment.
Does anyone out there have an knowledge on how to cover such complex
surface with vinyl without wrinkles?
I also have a question about seat covers. I gather in '70,
there were 3 different seats styles, standard, deluxe, and mach1.
The front seats in my car are what I gather are "deluxe" seats
(which have front-to-back "rolls", and a flat squares on the top
half). I want to put in the Mach1 seats (which have sideways "rolls"
that go all up the back.
Can I simply put the Mach1 seat covers onto my existing deluxe seats?
Or better yet, is there anyone who wants to trade me?
Mine are basically in very good shape, they just don't match
the back seats, and I like the mach1 style better.
Thanks for any input.

Personally, I invested $50 into a dash cover. If installed right, it is
very hard to tell it is even a cover. It is plastic, but $50 vs $450 is a
nice trade off for a daily driver. I got mine from California Mustang.
Installation was a snap.

My dash pad, '69, has a crack forward through the speaker holes. A
upholsteror in Goldbar, WA swears he can fix it for $25.00 and will not
charge if I am not happy. He has it now. I had been considering the plastic
cover for under $100. When installed properly they look very nice.
