All you 69/70 owners, past & present...

Was the console finished in the same charcol black
metallic, or some other shade of black?

Thanks
Jim K.

Walt & Jeff

Thanks for the reply.

My interior has the folddown, and the fiberglass
panels were in need of refinishing, so I gave those a
light coat of Charcol Black Metallic (from lower
dash). I was pretty sure it wasn't the correct
finish, but I didn't know of a black that would come
close to the original finish.

With those done, that only leaves the console. I have
to repaint or dye since it is very faded. Besides the
finish, it is in excellent shape, no extra holes,
scratches, etc.

Would the original finish be closer to the semi-flat
black, a semi-gloss, or maybe Trim Black (found at
auto paint stores)?

Thanks
Jim

Looks like Jeff's reply got scrubbed, but I read the HTML text...

Jeff, are you saying that the metallic/non-metallic depended on whether the
car had a fold-down rear seat? I have to say, I'm pretty incredulous but
would be fascinated by what you might have to say to support this comment.
Frankly, I've looked at a lot of parts from a lot of cars and never made
that connection. Why would the console not have the same small metallic as
the rest of the molded plastic parts? Hmmm...now here's some real Mustang
trivia!
