Anyone know where I can get a replacement brake pressure differential
valve at for a 68? I can find one for a 67 but, it's different than
what's on my 68.

I assume you are talking about the prop valve mounted
above the rear axle.

There were two different ones used in 67, a simple cylindrical
one, and one that sorta looks like the state of Texas, which
is pictured in the Shop Manual, and was available from Ford
a few years ago. I always thought that one was correct for a
68 also.

What type is on your 68?

No, this is mounted in the engine compartment below the master cylinder.
The brake pressure switch is mounted on it.

There are at least two different parts used -- this part is different
for manual drum and power-disc applications. I've owned both types
of 68 mustangs. In both cases they mount inside the engine
compartment near the master cylinder.

I'd check some of the online catalogs and/or call some of the mustang
specialty places (NPD, Mustangs Plus, John's mustangs, etc), they may
have them new or used or have ideas where you could find one.

You might also try master power brakes (mpbrakes.com) -- they
probably have something that will work if you are not interested in
original looks.

The one that's mounted on the rear axle is not a proportioning valve,
from what I know. That's a simple distribution block. The
proportioning valve is next to the master cylinder and there were two
types from what I've seen in books.

The first was a block containing the proportioning valve combined with
the distribution block that distributes the front brake pressure to both
wheels and a shuttle valve which trips the brake warning light when one
system fails. The second was like that, but the proportioning function
was outside the distribution block in a little cylindrical block. The
manual shows this, but I've never seen one that way.

Sorry though, I don't know a good source. I'm using one from a '76
Granada, since I converted to four wheel disk brakes (front from the
Granada, back from the late model crown vic).

Not the block on the axle, the prop valve is at the hardline
junction ..."above" the axle ....inline with the brake line

See pic. My 67 has the cylindrical prop valve.

I *think* 68s are same. Not sure when they moved the prop
valve under the hood.

On my 68 disc brake mustang, the prop valve is in the engine
compartment. their is a distribution block with the pressure
differential switch, and an external cylindrical prop valve (actually
in my case I replaced this with an adjustable prop valve). It is all
under the hood mounted near the master cylinder.

Does it look like either of the ones in the manual below?

That implies that 67 was an odd year for the prop valve... 65/66, 68
under the hood, 67 at the axle .... anyone else have a rear
mounted prop valve, or is my car weird? Now, my two 67s are
a bit different than most, but when I plumbed the race car,
the hardline to the rear required me to make a short connecter pipe
to the bracket where the flex line mounts, since I was not
using the stock prop valve.... and the other 67 is a very original
December build.

I'm looking for the distribution block with the shuttle valve. My
shuttle valve won't move, probably rusted in place.

I'll probably replace the proportioning valve also while I'm at it if I
can find one. Mine is like your second description, it's mounted as
part of the distribution block/shuttle valve.
