I have a question about the replacement of a valve cover gasket on a '66
straight six engine. When replacing the valve cover, do I have to set the
bolts to a certain torque when I replace the cover. If so, what is the
proper setting? Does anyone have any other tips for preforming this
operation??? Thanks a lot, Ken

Yep. First, make sure the valve cover is flat. You may need to work
the metal to make it so. They get divots around the bolt holes over
time, and especially from overtightening. Then, hand tighten the
bolts evenly. Run the motor. If no leaks, it's tight enough. If it
leaks a bit, tighten it a bit. Sounds dumb, but it's how I've done it
for years. After a while, you get the feel for the thing.

Jeff
