I pulled my 302 out last night and completely pulled it apart for a refresh
due to oil leaks. It turns out that the cam plug in the rear of the engine
was in too far and oil was leaking around it.

I discovered one big issue. The fuel pump eccentric had been rubbing the
aluminum cover for some time. During disassembly, I found out that a few
small pieces of aluminum had gotten to the bearings. Nothing drastic,
though. The machine shop feels like everything will clean up fine. Anyone
have any thoughts about this?

The engine is a 68 302, 4v, 4sp, headers, 9.0 comp., polished intake and
exhaust ports in the heads, Isky cam 381256, triple springs 6005, hardened
Pushrods 393 HG,Tappets 382HY, Retainers, 507ST, Chain and Gears 380TS,
roller rockers. The fuel pump eccentric is out of the original motor.

The cam's specs are: 256-SUPERCAM HYDRAULIC RPM-Range: 1500-4800 Valve
Lift - INT: .450 EXT: .450 Valve Lash Hot - INT: .000 EXT: .000 ADV
Duration - INT: 256° EXT: 256° .050 Duration - INT: 202° EXT: 202° Lobe
Center: 112°.

I've never really felt that the engine has the horsepower I was looking for.
I'm not looking for a weekend racer, but I had hoped to have a fairly strong
pulling 302. Anyone have any thoughts about this combination?

Anyone have any 302 rebuild tips? Certain gasket sets, seals, kits?

Thanks,

David
