I thought about that, but I dunno... sounds like a lot of work= $$$$$$$.
Maybe someone who has done this could comment on the changes needed to be
made to the car? My highest goal is not to do anything that can't be
reasonably undone. No cutting into shock towers, etc. etc. That's a big
reason for not rebuilding the original 289 radically.

Also to be honest I don't really know the #'s on a 5.0. How does it
compare to that 351 SVO from Ford? (385HP, 377lbs of torque @ 5,750RPM)
Also what is is the block\computer\etc going to cost???

Getting more crazy ideas the more I think about it,

The 5.0 EFI swap is not for the meek. Along with the engine, there are a
dozen or so sensors and solenoids. These need to be installed in the car,
so you would have to drill holes in your fender aprons. You also need to
modify the wiring harness to hook up to your car... Then you've got to
retro-fit your old oil pan, drill a new dipstick hole, and lets not forget
about radiator clearance problems, and you'll probably have to move the
battery to the trunk. I know I'm forgetting other details... I was going to
do this to my '68, but my car isn't worth the hassle.

It's still a good swap, stock 200-225 HP and ~20-25mpg. On this list, John
Strube has done the swap.

The 5.0 doesn't compare the the 5.8. Ain't no replacement for displacement.
Best place to get the computer/solenoids/intake manifold/wiring harness is
a junk yard. They would be too expensive purchased new, and are abundant
junked.

Oh, I was just looking in the Edlebrock catalog. A 351W with their RPM
intake, RPM cam, RPM cylinder heads (bah.. get Twisted Wedge smiling smiley, their
re-marked crappy Carter carb, and 1-3/4" headers produced 400 HP @ 6000 RPM
and 412 lbs. @ 4500 RPM.

I have a '67 coupe with a 302 that needs rebuilt/replacing. I was
considering
a Ford 5.0 RHO engine. I saw one advertised for less than $1700. I
believe
its a longblock, with no intake, etc. I thought this might be a good
cost conscious
combo. Anyone comment?
