I have a 68 Mustang coupe with power front disc brakes. I replaced the rotors
with repro's from ViPar. They came with the car when I bought it. I went to
install these and have a small problem with them. The distance between the
bearings seems to be too short. The cotter pin does not effectively lock the
nut in place because the retainer is not in the right place.
Has any one else had problems like this with repro replacement rotor/hub
assemblies?
I can add a second washer under the spindle nut to space this out and have the
cotter pin line up with the retainer. Would this cause any other problems?
Any comments or help on this would be appreciated.

Marc,
Short answer; should work fine.
Long answer qualifying short answer;
I had a similar problem on the wifes car some
time back. The wheel bearing race had turned
and recessed into the rotor. Since the rotor
still had life left in it, I had a friend cut
out the hub on his mill for the next oversize
bearing. This did leave me with a situation
like yours that the washer no longer took up
adequate space between the castle nut and the
bearing (due to the race turning in the hub,
not cutting out the hub oversize). I did exactly
what you did and simply added an extra washer.
This lasted for several thousand miles until the
rotor had worn down and needed to be replaced.
Good luck,
Vince
