I have a 1995 F350 diesel crew cab dually 2 wheel drive, that lately has had a clanking under drivers side on suspension movements, braking, and turning. I replaced the shocks last year, still there afterwards. The noise is getting worse and I can feel it through the floorboards under my feet. I have checked tightness of bolts, nuts, shock mounts, etc.. Any idea what this is? I even had a shop take a look and they said they could not find anything loose. Thanks, Lloyd

Sway bar end links. On my '99 they didn't feel worn to the touch but that was due to them being pre-loaded by the sway bar. Replaced the end links and it was like I was driving a different vehicle.

Unfortunately I don't have the '99 anymore. One of my boys managed to total it out a couple of years ago. Loved that truck!!

Maybe that's what wrong with mine. Have F-250 2003 and I also replaced the shocks. Sounds like the same noise I have and I was also told it was all tight and I cant find anything loose. Its driving me nuts.

It does sound like sway bar end links could be your problem too. In my case, and the one described above, the noise/clunking became progressively worse until it was felt in the floorboard. I was surprised and pleased the problem turned out to be something as simple as sway bar end links!

One caveat I ran into. the bolts (two per side IIRC) securing the link to the frame were frozen solid and I ended up breaking them. It was no big deal in that I drilled them out oversized and used longer bolts with NyLoc nuts. I think the drilling, etc., added an hour to a half hour job. Both sides were done in an hour and a half.

Best wishes your way!!

To check jack up the car, support it and try to rock the wheel from side to side. It could also be a suspension or damper bush. To find out take the wheel of and look for marks showing movement, If nothing is obvious then lever all the joints with a Tyre lever or similar.
Hope this will help you!! smiling smiley
