The Ford Tourneo is a small minibus (8-9 seats) entirely based on the Ford Transit van (not to be confused with the full size Ford Transit minibus). The Transit is a commercial vehicle made especially for the use of transporting goods. The Tourneo, however, is a family minibus so has back seats and windows like an ordinary car.
The Tourneo is also considered an executive transport vehicle, being one of the more spacious vehicles of its class, which also includes the Mercedes-Benz Viano and the Volkswagen Caravelle. The Ford Tourneo was introduced in the 1995 and has had good sales.
Both the Tourneo and Transit run in parallel, so when a new Transit model is introduced, the Tourneo similarly updated.
A smaller, minivan version of the Tourneo, called the Ford Tourneo Connect, was introduced in 2002, based on the Ford Transit Connect.
